I built these two T-style guitars last year but didn’t really consider them to be finished because I used aftermarket necks as placeholders until I could build my own. Well, now they’re finished.
Over the last week I’ve upgraded both guitars with necks of my own construction and given them full setups. Here are the specs:
Build One (Green)
Body: Swamp ash
Finish: Lee Valley aniline dye in forest green, Osmo Polyx (satin) and Walrus Oil furniture wax.
Pickguard: Curly maple finished with Osmo Polyx (satin)
Neck: Riftsawn walnut with a quartersawn white oak fretboard and walnut face markers, finished with Osmo Polyx. The fretboard is pore-filled with CA glue for a hard finish, similar to a lacquered maple fretboard.
Pickups: Fender American Vintage ‘52 Telecaster
Bridge: Wilkinson by Gotoh WT3
Tuners: Gotoh SD381-MG-T 6-in-line locking
Fretboard radius: 16”
Weight: 7lbs, 9oz.
Build Two (Blue)
Body: Maple
Finish: Lee Valley aniline dye in peacock blue, Osmo Polyx (satin) and Walrus Oil furniture wax.
Neck: Riftsawn mahogany with a canarywood fretboard and padauk face markers, finished with Osmo Polyx.
Pickups: StewMac “The Standard Telecaster”
Bridge: Gotoh GTC201
Tuners: Gotoh SD381-MG-T 6-in-line locking
Fretboard radius: 16”
Weight: 9lbs, 6oz.
